Task instruction about Princess Diana

(Year: 5-6)

You are going to do a small research about Princess Diana that we talked about last week.

I want you do a mind map about Princess Diana.

·         Search after a picture on Princess Diana. Internet is a good tool but you can also use books.

·         Print out a picture that you like or copy if you use the book. Cut the picture like you want it and glue it on  a paper (size A3)

Now you are ready to start a small research. To do the research you have to use the Internet or the books. You can use both if you want to.

As a help for this research I have made you questions to search for.

·         When was Princess Diana born?

·         Where was Princess Diana born?

·         Who was Princess Diana married to?

·         What are the names of Princess Diana´s kids?

·         What year did Princess Diana die?

·         How did Princess Diana die?

When you have the answers of these questions you will write the answer on the paper and point an arrow from the text to the picture.

Aim

The aim for this exercise is to practice how to do a research about something, in this case a person. The aim is also to learn about England’s history which on this exercise is about Princess Diana.
Good luck!

Write a short story for children, about 300 words.

It can be about anything you want, but most contain the following:

        At least two characters.

        At least one dialogue exchange.

A story appropriate for the age of the readers.

If you are aiming at a specific age range, e.g. 7-9 or 10-12, please specify that.

The story doesn’t need to be very good – you are not expected to be a professional writer of fiction. Remember that this is an English proficiency exercise primarily.

The little Wolf-lady

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a tree house, deep in the forest. She lived there alone, raised by wolfs. Her mom had left her in the woods while she was a baby. Her mom was very ill so she couldn´t take care of her. The people in the village nearby the forest knew about her but have never met her in real person. She had no name but the people call her the little Wolf-lady. The wolfs fed her during her childhood, they also guarded her and taught her everything they know. They were no regular wolfs, they had a little human blood in them and they could talk like a humans. This was good because in order to start a language the most important thing is imitation and she could imitate the wolf and still learn how to speak with humans.

At one time, when she was out playing in the forest she saw a boy riding on a hoarse. She hid behind a tree, hoping that he didn´t saw her, but he did.

-           Hey you! He shouted.

She was shy but she came out of the tree.

-           Who are you? The boy asked.

-          I am just a girl.  Who are you? I have never seen you around here before. The little wolf-lady said with a low voice.

-          My name is Alfred and I live here in the village. Are you the little

Wolf-lady? He asked.

-          Wolf-lady? I  live together with wolfs so I think I must be her then. She said.

Now the little Wolf-lady was scared. She thought if Alfred now go to the village and tell everybody that  he have met the little Wolf-lady, they will come and get her.

But Alfred said:

-          Cool, I am the first person who have met you and everybody talks about you. This must be our secret. You could my secret friend.

The little Wolf-lady became very happy because she still could live the life just the way she is used to but also have a real friend that is a human. How cool is that?

Why are we going to use ICT in school?

I believe that it is important to use ICT for every educator and pupils in daily basis. I also believe that it makes it easier for students who have difficulties with writing and reading. The students can quickly write down what´s on their mind by using ICT and the focus on handwriting will not take over. This implies that the text has more quality and there will be more focus on the content.

It is very modern to use computers, everything talks about that it is going to be even bigger in the future. That is why it is so important with ICT in school because it develops your computer skills.

It is good to use computers when writing text because you are able to edit and rewrite in a much easier way than in handwriting.

Handwriting requires good motor skills and it´s not every person who has that. That could make the person focus more on how to write rather than the content of the text which is the most important thing in writing.

In most jobs it is necessary to have good computer knowledge. Every family do not have afford to buy a computer (although most do), that´s why it´s so important to use computers in the school.
As i see it there is only one consequence The computer change a wrong spelled word automatically. You as a  teacher has to be sure that you have turned that programme of so the pupils can find the wrongspelled words on their own.

It is for us teachers important to get every pupil interests to learn. It´s not always easy to motivate pupils, but if we teachers give them a tool that they like to work with the interests in learning will higher. I think that it is good to use ICT in school, because the popularity of computers could help the pupils to be better readers and writers which is our goal.

God natt!!
